Team EZPZ has competed for 3 years and has worked on a variety of projectsSpin Up Catapult
We competed in the VEX U Spin Up competition. We competed at Tigertown Throwdown in Clemson, SC, at the Fun in The Sun event in Tampa, FL, in Purdue, IN, and at the Signature Event in Sandusky, OH.
We designed a catapult that would launch the discs into the goal. It also used a 3D print to store string that would launch across the field covering the field.
Spin Up Flywheel
We designed, built and programmed robots for this event in which the robots picked up discs and scored them in frisbee golf goals. One of the designs we used implemented a flywheel mechanism, which spun at nearly 4000rpm in order to shoot the discs across the field.
We used 3d printed slides to get over the barrier more easily. We also used a 3D printed guide for the discs to fall into the flywheel. Additionally, we designed a tracking pod that allowed us to use odometry to track the position of the robot on the field.
Lyon's Boat Bonanza
We competed within the College of Engineering and Computing to design, build and sail a ship across the pool using only cardboard and duct tape. We designed the boat to be sailed by 2 members, but only one ended up sailing.
We CADed the original design to determine how the boat would come together. We then used TV boxes to cut out the design. We had to make a few modifications to the original design to better incorporate the structure of the cardboard. We also designed two benches which could be placed in the boat as well.
